Incomplete print job

I am working with a brand new photosmart-pro-b8850 on Ubuntu 7.10

The test sheets looked fine so I made a draft 8 x 10 print of one of my images. The image scaled correctly and generally appeared correct

I am printing normally through DigiKam so I set the DK management up correctly for a b8850 paper icc and to work with a Super B size.

Also ensured that the HP device manager had correct details. Image size 3200 x 2500 approx.

With a single sheet of paper in the printer I started the print job. All appeared to go correctly except that after about 3/4 of the print was completed the paper ejected and started to look for a second sheet. (out of paper)

An added item ...

From the time that I pressed 'print' until the printer started to do something was a very long time ... many minutes

I do have 2 gb. memory installed with a 2ghz. intel mobile chip

I have now totally reinstalled both of my HP printers and am pleased to report that the problem appears to have disapeared.

The 'start printing' time now has dropped to 2 mins ... that I can live with ... and the 13 x 19 prints are completing.
