Ink System Failure 0xc18a0207

Asked by Spook

I'm running Ubuntu 8.5 with an HP C5180, and it was running just fine until I changed a print cartridge that was empty. Since then, it will not print, and gives the failure message Ink System Failure 0xc18a0207. I've tried recycling the power, removing the cords, etc., but it comes back as soon as I power back up. I downloaded the HP Device Manager for Ubuntu and installed it, but it still behaves the same. Sending a test page leaves it in the queue and trying to calibrate from the DM displays "Cancelling Calibration" on the printer screen. I went through the steps on
http://www.coldreset.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=80 but it behaves the same. When trying to hold down the OK, Cancel, Black, and Color buttons down simultaneously and turn the printer off, it will not turn off. HELP!

Oh, and swapping the old cartridges back in had no effect either.

This seems to be a hardware problem. If possible you may want to contact HP Total Care to troubleshoot. If possible have a windows system available when you call or test on a windows system first and see if you are getting the same error.

To contact HP Total Care (HP technical support):
