Photosmart 7960 Printer freeze when a document is sent to print

Asked by Jav

HP Photosmart 7960 printer freeze when a document is sent to print. In order to get back the printer back to live I have to unplug it from the power outlet.
After the printer is setup using hp-setup, only one page is printed (test page), after that, everything that is sent to print freeze the printer. The printer get in a state that no communication is possible between the printer and the computer is not even posible to use the printer little menu to print the test page.

Once the printer is rebooted, the document on the queue is print but the next one on the queue (if available) freeze the printer again.

Thanks in advance for any help

Can you also, post back the output to,

$ lsusb

$ hp-probe

$ /usr/lib/cups/backend/hp

Then open a terminal window, and

$ tail -f /var/log/messages

and re-run another print job that will fail. Then post back the contents of the terminal/tail window.

First of all thanks for your help.
I did your recommendation now i have a 100% working printer

1. Add user account to LP group
2. Turn off the computer

I will take the laptop to the office and show it to the client for consideration as an alternative to other OS on the market

Thanks again for your support

Take the computer to the work place. Put it on an staging environment for testing and observation for customer consideration.
