Hi, john. Thanks for help.

I have the same problem. I tested the printer on two different (Kubuntu - Hardy Heron) computer with the same results.

I executed the command. I got a long output. Therefore I decide to post only the link:
http://ramm.gmxhome.de/forum/hplib/hp-check.txt

In the text are some apt-get commands in the chapter "COMPILE AND RUNTIME DEPENDENCIES". Do I have to execute them all?

Regards, Sap

I have run the listed apt-get commands (from bottom of the log-file). But now if I execute the command "hp-testpage" I get this errors:

+++++++ begin of output +++++++
error: Unable to communicate with device (code=12): hp:/par/HP_LaserJet_1100?device=/dev/parport0
error: Unable to print to printer. Please check device and try again.

note: If an error occured, or the test page failed to print, refer to the HPLIP website
note: at: http://hplip.sourceforge.net for troubleshooting and support.
+++++++ end of output +++++++

nobody has an idea? I can submit more information. Please let me know which information are missing. Or is the status of this thread wrong? "Answered" sounds as "already solved". How can I switch the status to "open"?
