Job prints, then hangs in que Code:5021
I'm a complete nube to Ubuntu, and I finally got my HP 1006 to print via the USB port. (I gave up on the crappy NetGEAR PS121 prn server) I have a lot of Microshaft experience though.
I can print a multi-page document, but only one "job" at a time. After the first job prints, it stays in the que showing busy. In the HP Device Manager it reports a 5021 error continuously. I has no associated Job ID. All I have to do is manually delete the job, and the next print job will start the cycle all over again. I'm at my wits end here. Any help would be appreciated. Bear in mind, if you need some logs or other data, pls be fairly specific on "how" I'd go about getting that info. Thanks

Oh yea, seems the "Service request" error #1806 comes up all the time in the HP Device Manager "Status" tab.

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Ok...going to have you try something. But I need to to observe the printer carefully. I'm going to have you disconnect the usb cable. And plug it back in....what does the printer do? Nothing? Or does it spin up and flash lights then return to an idle state.

I re-initializes. (spins up sounding like it's about to print a page) every time. Also when I print a job, it prints, then stays in the que. I can't print anything else until I delete the job manually. After I manually delete the entry, I'm able to print to the printer again. But only one print job at a time. If the one print job has ten pages, the printer prints ten pages, but if you have TEN 1 page print jobs, you only get the one page and everything hangs, until you delete the hung job. Thanks

Could you also, open a terminal, then
$ tail -f /var/log/messages
Then run another print job, and post back the output on that tail
I need to the output to,

Looks like the foo2xqx-wrapper queue. Could you try hp queue.
Thanks

You just need to select the hp print queue in Device Manager (hp-toolbox) on the Print Settings tab, or you could set the hp queue as default. Or print via command line to the queue name.

Well I still can't get this thing to print. Even with the HP que. I tried uninstalling the packaged print managers and upgraded my HP to the latest ver. 2.8.7 device manager 14.0 with no way to print now. Any help would be appreciated. Thx

OMG, it couldn't be that simple.... seems Question #30100 nailed it with some d*&^% orange keeper affixed to the toner cartridge! This thing printed FINE in windows. WOW, I just can't hardly believe that. SO moral of the story REMOVE the orange thing at the left side of the toner cartridge.
