HP LaserJet P1006 Can't Print in Ubuntu 8.04

Asked by modelpo

I can't use my HP LaserJet P1006 on ubuntu 8.04....I already installed the New version of HPLIP 2.8.5...But there is no document printed...I noticed on my run the command "hp-check -t" and seems there is no plug-in installed....I don't know how to installed that...please help me to install this printer.

Here's the output when I command "hp-check -t"

HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 2.8.5)

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:

1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the

HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies

are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.

2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro

supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball

has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.

3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode

will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Initializing. Please wait...

"error: Required plug-in status: Not installed"

The p1006 requires the plugin to function.

Delete the printer queue and run hp-setup to configure the printer. It should then prompt to use the plugin.

Hope this helps.
