bad device-uri attribute

Asked by MikeG

I'm using RHEL4 64bit with HPLIP 1.7.4a

My latest problem, cups error log reports bad device-uri attribute when I try to create a new queue using the toolbox (toolbox error : Printer Queue setup failed, Please reset Cups and try again). I noticed that there's no option to select hplip when trying to create a printer using the cups web interface. Using cups 1.3.7 (although I'll need to double check this tommorrow). I may switch the version of cups tomorrow, uninstall hplip, and reinstall.

Also, I was wondering if it was possible to use a hp color 2500 driver with an hp 1500L?

thanks, this forum has been extremely helpful over the past months.

Also, I do have this working under RHEL 4 32bit using VMWare.

Update:

I tried using a different version of cups, 1.2, that fixed my printer queue problem.

I'm giving up on the 1500L, unless someone has this working. Recommendations for a color laser by HP that works 100% under linux?

Thanks.

You can see a list of the color laserjets and various functions supported by hplip here:

Hope this helps!
