PyQt version dependency

Asked by nshephard

Hi,

I'm trying to purge my system of all QT3 dependencies (as QT4 has been around for ages, I don't use KDE and only have QT for the few GUI apps that require it).

I use Gentoo and the ebuild explicitly requires >=PyQt-3.14 so I keep on getting QT3 pulled in as a run-time dependency.

Sooo, I was wondering does hplip explicitly require PyQt-3.* or will it work with PyQt-4.*?

If the later then I'll file a bug report on Gentoo to get the ebuild updated.

Thanks in advance, and let me know if I've been too vague/ambiguous,

Neil

Currently, hplip uses Qt3 exclusively (well, there is one exception, but its
a transitional issue). There are plans to move to Qt4 "in the future" (can't
say exactly when...).
