Can't print large format on OfficeJet Pro K850 anymore.

Hello,
   I have an OfficeJet Pro K850 that for the past year and a half, I have been printing large format documents running Ubuntu 6.10. I have just upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04 and now I can no longer print large format. I can print US letter or A4 size just fine, but when I switch to Ledger(Tabloid), the printer does nothing.
  I am really stumped and anxious to get this printing large format again. I bought the printer to make all of the in-store signage for my shop.

Oh sorry I see it now.

If possible please uninstall the pre-installed hplip and install the latest (2.8.5) from source. The installer works great with ubuntu.

This seems to have done the job, although it seems a bit clunky that I have this HP Device Manager always loading at startup. I hope that I don't have to have this running all of the time.

P.S. I can no longer share printers with others anymore. I don't know if this is related to the new backend or not, but other machines(all running Ubuntu 8.04) can't see my shared LaserJet 2100 or my OfficeJet K850.
