Problems w/ installing HP F4100 All-in-One printer drvrs on LINUX

Asked by Hilpe

Where to find printer drivers for HP F4100 All-in-One printer (F4190) on RHEL 4.1 (Oracle tuned version)?
Tried 1.7.4a by running

sh hplip-1.7.4a.run

I selected automatic, Red Hat Enterprise (opt. 7), opt. 2 (4.0 "Nahant")

 but failing w/ an error:
error: Missing REQUIRED dependency: libusb (libusb - USB library)

... but

rpm -q libusb

... gives

libusb-0.1.12-5.1
libusb-0.1.12-7.fc7

I'm running

Linux 2.6.18 (RHEL 4.1) x86_64
What I'm missing here?

Thanks in advance.

Please try installing the latest hplip.

Also to install on RHEL 4.x it's a manual install process, the automatic installer does not support RHEL.

You could try these directions:

http://hplip.sourceforge.net/install/manual/distros/redhatenterprise.html

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Too many dependency checks. I gave up & swapped to Ubuntu. Then installation worked just beautifully.
