Direct digital filling to an Opensuse 10.3 Samba Server

Asked by abaxor

Hi,

we have a Officejet Pro L7680 "All-In-One" with the nice feature "Direct Digital Filling". That means one can scan a document directly to a network folder. No PC is required, as per HPs product description. I set up the L7680 defining the network folders. Anybody who has network access can write these folders, they are located on a SAMBA server Opensuse 10.3. But always I try the direct digital filling, the "All-In-One" complains, "No network connection to ...". Any Hints?

Thanks Tom

Tom,

HPLIP doesn't support this feature.

The printer manual may offer some hints...although I didn't find anything that indicated it would work in a samba environment.

Sorry I couldn't help more. Although I'd like to set this question to answered because it's unsupported by us, it will still be found in a web search and perhaps someone may have additional information for you.

Thanks for your support of HPLIP.

I've written up this short how-to on configuring Digital Filing. It's a pretty easy process.

Hope this helps.
