Send a fax via ipp with OfficeJet 6315

Asked by Till Maas

I want to use an OfficeJet 6315 to fax documents. The device is connected via ethernet to a server, which announces it via cups. Clients connect to the server via a different network, so they do not have direct access to the device:
E.g.

OJ 6315 192.168.0.2 ------- 192.168.0.1 Server 192.168.1.1 ------ 192.168.1.100 Client

I configured the fax on the server as a cups fax printer and the client finds it via browsing. The problem is now, that it appears with as ipp://192.168.1.1:631/printers/OJ6315-FAX and not with a hpfax prefix. Is it now somehow possible to use the fax from the client?

Till,

HPLIP does not currently support printing/faxing/scanning to a shared cups printer. HPLIP needs to be able to access the printer directly either via the network or usb for HPLIP to function correctly.

Sorry I couldn't help more.
