C5180 will not print from the photo deck

Asked by davefahy

When trying to print photos, error message states "paper wrong size or shape". Even though have notified in properties to use 4" x 6" from the photo deck. Should print from the screen. Will print from an XD card direct to the printer with no problem.

Have only just loaded Ubuntu and am still getting used to the system

Dave,

Please run hp-check -t and post the output.

Also please run:

hp-toolbox

Click "Print Settings"

and make sure the correct paper size and tray's are select.

For example the settings might be:
Media: Photo or 4x6 Index Card
Media Source: Photo Tray

etc

Also if you'll be printing a lot of pictures the best method is to create another printer queue called for example "4x6Photos" and then configure the queue as needed. Then when you want to print photos the queue is already configured and you just print to the appropriate printer queue.

Hope this helps.

Aaron

I have the same problem. i know the "printing with hp-toolbox" thing works, but still
i open a picture in my mail (it opens with eye of gnome or f-spot) and i want to print it. this should be possible or should be made possible. there surely may be workarounds, but if one ever wants that regular people use linux, you better make sure that it just works. it's very hard to explain to people: "ow yes, you can put your settings the correct way, but it's normal that it doesn't work, you have to use another program with the exact same settings for it to work"

so... can this be fixed? when will this be fixed? it's been allmost a year now!!!

Can you help with this problem?
