cannot get deskjet 970Cxi working with printerserver

Asked by rj

Under gutsy the 970Cxi was working fine on the network with a Sitecom LN-306 (USB) printerserver.
After upgrading to hardy I never got it working again. I tried a lot of configurations in CUPS.
The best I got (after unpausing the printer) was a printout with:

ipp
Host: 192.168.1.67
User-Agent: CUPS/1.3.7
Expect: 100-continue

Under this is one line of overprinted garbage, at the end of the line something readable like: -natural-language en-us printer-uri http

I know that networking with this printer is officially not supported, but it worked fine under gutsy. Could you offer some advice?

Thanks in advance,
Robertjan Meerman.

Robertjan,

HPLIP only supports HP JetDirect printservers and devices. We haven't tested on the Sitecom LN-306 device so we don't support it. You can try running:

sudo hp-setup -i ip.address.of.printer

if you can configure the printer and if the device reports the correct information as needed by hplip it -may- work. however more than likely it will not.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

Aaron
