debian 4.0 series with hp d5360 printer

Asked by rob

I have a Debian 4.0 series OS that installs hplip/hpijs along with the OS itself. It looks complete and as if it might be ready-to-use as installed. I don't find any user instructions on the websites on how to make this work. How can I find out more about this?

Rob,

We don't support the pre-packaged HPLIP versions that are included with the various linux distros. This is because the distros can modify/change HPLIP (and often do). If possible install the latest HPLIP from http://hplip.sf.net and this will help you configure the printer and we have documentation on using hplip on our website. or you could ask the debian forums on how to use the pre-installed hplip. Usually one would run:

hp-setup

to configure the printer and then

hp-toolbox

to use the hplip device manager.

Hope this helps.

Aaron
