Officejet R60 instalation in OS X

Asked by Claudio

I am trying to use this HP OfficeJet R60 with my Imac, running 10.5.2. I am not sure how to install the "hplip-2.8.4 (if that is what I need).
Also this printer is not an USB, but with the help of a "paralel to usb" and SCSI adaptor, I have made connections and I can see the printer just fine in the computer, problem is... I can't print.
When I connected the printer, I was able to select the driver "HP officejet R60 Gutenprint V5.1.3" and i hope that it will immediately print. I was mistaken. It takes forever. I can see the document name, etc, "printing". So I choose to look into "open printing database" where I found some steps to take, to follow so the printer might work.
Can anybody help me? I need detailed directions. I want to save this printer.
Thank you,
Claudio

Claudio,

HPLIP does not support Mac OS X. You can look on the hp.com website for some possible alternatives:

Sorry we couldn't help more.

Try resetting the print system: open the Print & Fax pane and control-click in a blank spot in the Printers sidebar. In the pop-up, click Reset printing system. Restart your Mac and re-add the printer if necessary.

If that doesn't work, the Gutenprint project has its own Mac support page and forums.

http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3

You could ask in the forums if the Parallel-USB adapter connection should work.

Can you help with this problem?
