HPLIP cannot detect printers in your network

Asked by FM33

Hello,

In Ubuntu 16.04, hp-setup utility cannot detect the network printer, but the default printer manager does.
I configured the ports 5353 and 427 in gufw and in port triggering section in ISP box settings, but it doesn't work.

I tried to enter the printer's IP but it doesn't detect it neither.

What else can I check ?

Hi,

Try the below command for setting up the printer:

Hp-setup IPAddress.

Check it should be in the same network.

If the problem continues share the device details.

Thanks

This way, it works, thanks.

In the meanwhile I figured out that even if the printer is added with the default printer manager, it seems to work fine with HP Device Manager anyway.

Just the HP DM won't show when called from tray icon, but only from dash (3.16.7).
