Driver plug-in download fails

Asked by nemarona

I'm using hplip 3.15.2 in Linux Mint 17.2 (Rafaela) to install a Laserjet P1102w printer.

The printer is correctly detected, but, after selecting the option "Download and install the plug-in from an authorized HP server (recommended)," the download fails with the error message "error: The printer you are trying to setup requires a binary driver plug-in and it failed to install. Please check your internet connection and try again. Visit http://hplipopensource.com for more infomation."

My Internet connection is (obviously) working, but I'm behind a proxy, and that may be the source of the problem. As far as I can tell, proxy settings are correct and are detected by every other part of the system (web browser, software manager, etc.).

Reading the answers to other questions, I found a link to manually download the driver plug-in, but the link is dead (it gives a Page Not Found error).

Is there a way to make hp-setup aware of the proxy configuration, or some link to manually download the driver plug-in?

Thanks!

Hi,

You can download the plugin for the version of HPLIP from following link.
https://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/hplip-3.15.2-plugin.run
https://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/hplip-3.15.2-plugin.run.asc

Download the files and run hp-plugin. Select the option "Select and install an existing local copy of plug-in file".

Hope this solves the problem.
Regards,
Ajay
