During the installation of HPLIP-2.8.4 I'm told that my CD/DVD source repository is enabled and shouldn't be. How do I disable it?

Asked by Brian Richards

I'm using the autoinstaller and get through the question and answer period before it locks out for 300s and then complains that my CD/DVD source repository is enabled and shouldn't be. At this point I'm invited to try another method or quit. Being cautious I quit because I have been assured that the autoinstall is the best way to go and I have no idea how to disable my CD/DVD source repository or even where to look for it. Can you please point me in the right direction? Surely, the way to do this should be given with the warning. By the way I have Ubuntu 7.10 and a Photosmart C7280 to install on it.

To disable the cd sources in Ubuntu;

Click System
Click Administration
Click Software Sources
Uncheck the CD Sources
Click Click
Click Reload (if it pops up)
Rerun the HPLIP installer.

Problem solved. Thank you. Easy when you know how!

Printer is working and in duplex. There are two dependencies still missing; to do with scanning. Will check out the FAQs first.
