feature request: scanning with LaserJet M1522n

Asked by Patrick Ohly

My understanding of the situation is that scanning from current LaserJet MFP models is not supported, right? I have seen the similar questions about the M2727 and Aaron's reply that support might get added. Based on recommendations which praise HP's good Linux support, I considered buying the M1522n, but it seems that HP does not live up to its reputation right now. +1 from me for adding scanning support!

Is there anything an open source developer could do to help or are there other issues than lack of resources blocking this support?

Does the M1522n support scan-to-SMTP or -FTP?

Patrick,

We are still working on adding support in the future. Although I can't go into the reasons for the lack of current support--I can say we are working on sorting out the problems associated with providing support. The lack of support is not for lack of resources.

I've looked through the M1522n and I didn't locate anything referring to smtp or ftp scan-to functionality.

Sorry I couldn't give you some better answers--but I hope this helps.

Aaron

Aaron, thanks for the reassurance. I guess I can live with just print functionality for the time being and probably will buy an M1522n now.

My main point for posting was to document the need for Linux scan functionality - feel free to quote me if anyone still doubts that such a need exists...

Bye, Patrick
