I have got HP LaserJet Pro M1132 and notebook with Linux Mint 17.3. When I try to install this printer with HPLIP it starts to download and disable smart install, but process can not be ended. How to solve this problem?

Hi,

To understand the issue can you provide below information?

1) Is your Linux system connected to internet via network proxy?

2) Are you able to print (or setup print queue using hp-setup command) over usb connection if you ignore smart install download popup? In recent versions of Linux kernels smart install is automatically disabled.

3) Have you installed latest version of HPLIP (3.16.2)? If not then please install it from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html

Thanks,
Sanjay

This seems to be an HPLIP bug.
I've tried several times to install HPLIP 3.6.2 in Ubuntu 14.04 for "HP LaserJet 100 color MFP M175a", and SmartInstall fails in the proposed action "Download and disable".

Error message:
"
! Failed to disable smart install.
Please refer link 'http://hplipopensource.com/node/367' for more information
"

The only way to use this machine seems to be using Ubuntu's provided HPLIP and remain using only FOSS for printing, but not scanning in this so closed device.

Console output when plugging the device to an USB 2.0 port + accepting the "Download and disable" action:

When you are in a trusted network environment, you may open the ports for network services like mdns and slp in the firewall. For detailed steps follow the link.

(in my case, internet access is only through a NAT router)

Can you help with this problem?
