HP laser 1000 not working with Mint 17.3

Asked by Richard Lariviere

I upgraded from Mint 17.2 to 17.3 and everything seems ok but the printer.
When I re-install the printer , it says that there is a checksum error and the binary file is corrupted.
I downloaded HPLIP 3.5.11 but it is not compatible with 17.3.

I ran the HPsetup with the new 3.5.11 package, answered Yes to every questions but at the end, nothing works.
At the end of the process I get:
ii hplip 3.15.2-0trus amd64 HP Linux Printing and Imaging Sys

Should I go back to 17.2 or wait for an update to HPLIP with a compatible binary plugin?
When could we expect a permanent solution?

Thanks a lot for your support.

Richard

I would appreciate knowing if the HPLIP group will provide an update for Mint 17.3 so that I can use my printer.
I like 17.3 and would rather not switch back to 17.2 only for the printer issue.
Thanks
Richard
