I found the solution for yourself:
1. download http://netcologne.dl.sourceforge.net/project/hplip/hplip/3.15.11/hplip-3.15.11.tar.gz
2. reading how to http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/distros/ubuntu.html
3. run "hp-check"
4. install requerements hp-check:
sudo apt-get install python-qt4 python-notify python-reportlab python-imaging
5. :D

Manually installing, step 4 ( Configure HPLIP for installation with ./configure ...... ) stops with error: "configure: error: cannot find python-devel support"

Installing the package python-dev helps.

Manually compiling & installing printing driver version 3.5.11 works fine, if you deinstall the hplip related Ubuntu packages, which are in conflict withe the manuall installation. Deinstalling the follwong packages helped me:

- libsane-hpaio
- hplip-gui
- hplip-data
- libhpmud0

The problem is installing hp-plugin. Install script is buggy. This here helped me (ubuntu 15.10 64-bit, hplip 3.5.11):

It's rule: uninstall old packages programs, before compiling new version program...

That's right Keha, but first you have to identify all the packages which has to be uninstalled... ;-)

Can someone help me by providing the debug message output from the below command:

sh hplip-3.15.11-plugin.run - - -ig

You can download the file hplip-3.15.11-plugin.run from here https://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/hplip-3.15.11-plugin.run and run the above command and paste the output here.

This will help us to fix the issue in the code.

Thanks,
goutam
