while printing, screen flashes

Asked by NKL

When a print job starts my printer makes a few clunking noises as it starts. This I have no problem with; it's the way these things work. But during this period the computer screen flashes on and off and I cannot access the screen. For example if I have started a long print job and wish to stop it, I can't, which is annoying. Also the print comes out about an inch higher than the setting which means I frequently miss the first line of print on a page. Resetting page margins don't seem to work, either.

Is there any way this behaviour can be stoped?

Hi,

Thanks for reporting the issue in HPLIP. To help us understand and analyze the issue please follow below steps.
=> Download and install the latest HPLIP release from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html

=> Reconfigure print queue using below commands.

       => hp-setup -r (remove all print queues)

       => hp-setup

=>Try printing now and let us know if print out has proper margins.

Regarding Computer screen issue, I don't think , it has anything to do with Linux driver.

Dear Sanjay

This procedure certainly seems to have solved the problem, thank you. Not sure where to go now with the screen issue. Perhaps I can try the Ubuntu help, but I suspect they will say it has something to do with the HP driver. A classic case!
