Printing blank pages

Asked by Janine

I have Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
HP officejet all-in-one 5510

My printer was working until I upgraded to 14.04 It has not worked well since and eventually stopped printing anything.

I have new ink cartridges in so there is plenty of ink.

Today I've installed the latest hplip 3.15.7 which feels like I am a step closer to getting things fixed however it's only printing blank pages.
I have been in cups to admin to set users but still getting blank pages for anything I print.

I feel there must be something simple I am missing.
Can you help please
(and can you make it really simple to follow for a non-techy person, thanks)

Here is the output of hp-check -t

can you try deleting the existing print queue for this printer using command 'hp-setup -r' and retry configuring the print queue using command 'hp-setup'.
Run command 'hp-testpage' and let us know if the testpage is getting printed.

Thanks,
goutam

Thanks goutam.

I'm afraid just another blank page.

can you run command 'sudo hp-logcapture' in terminal to capture the log files for our analysis.
This generates a tar file in the current directory with the name hplip-troublshoot . Please attach the file to https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/271177/+makebug

Thanks,
Goutam

Sorry I am not familiar with this, I hope I did it right and attached the correct file.
After sending test page this time to create the capture log as you asked, the printer kept printing blank pages over and over until I cancelled the job.
But in terminal it did say the logs were saved even though the printer was still printing (blank) over and over... so I hope I have done as you asked.

Thank you for helping

I copied output from terminal when I made the log, don't know if I am to post this or not but here it is and I attached the file to a bug as you said:

Existing /var/log/syslog log file copied to /var/log/syslog.9.gz
Existing /var/log/messages log file copied to /var/log/messages.8.gz
Existing /var/log/cups/error_log log file copied to /var/log/cups/error_log.9.gz

Please perform the tasks (Print, scan, fax) for which you need to collect the logs.
Are you done with tasks?. Press (y=yes*, q=quit):y

Logs are saved as /home/red/Desktop/hplip_troubleshoot_logs.tar.gz
Please create a bug @https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+filebug and upload this log file.

Can you help with this problem?
