Scan problems with HP Officejet J4580

When I try a multiple scan,
1. xsane says after the first page: Scan job completed
2. simple scan adds empty space at the bottom of each page (about 20%), and when finished , it says "Scanner ADF empty"
I'm running ubuntu 14.04 with the latest hplip.
What can I do?

Please try to scan using the instructions given at http://hplipopensource.com/node/191

If the problem is not solved paste the output of the following commands here,

1. hp-check -t
2. hp-scan -g

 it looks like this helps for xsane and comman line.

But do you know a solution for simple scan?
