Unable to install hplip module in Ubuntu 15.04

Asked by Mark Dickie

When I try to add my printer using hp-setup I get the error message "The printer you are trying to setup requires a binary driver plug-in and it failed to install.". If I manually download and run hplip-3.15.2-plugin.run then I get the following.

Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing HPLIP 3.15.2 Plugin Self Extracting Archive...............................
Error importing HPLIP modules. Is HPLIP installed?

Not sure what to try next.

Hi,

Can you please try downloading and installing the latest HPLIP 3.15.4 from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html. Let us know if the problem still persists.

Thanks and Regards,
