sh: 0: Can't open hplip-3.15.2.run

Asked by CAROL

Went to HPLIP opensource.com, pressed DOWNLOAD for hplip-3.15.2., a dialogue window opened and asked open... or save..., selected save (which had no option as to where). Then introduced /home/name/Downloads , it answered it is a directory, and then the order sh hplip-3.15.2.run in the terminal and sh: 0: Can't open hplip-3.15.2.run appeared.

I am retired and no "cyber girl".... I then went to the download file and clicked on hplip to open... and could not finish task.

Have I missed anything? How should the whole process for downloading be?

I have UBUNTU 14.10, which apparently has hplip-3.12.6 pre-installed, but does not find device at usb. I have seen several questions on the subject, and understand this version contains some kind of bug which does not find usb.

The answers for correcting the 3.12.6 problem where too sophisticated for me, because I don't want to mess it up worse and make a mistake with the orders in the terminal.

My pc INTEL PENTIUM 4 CPU 3.06GHZ x 2 was "optimized" and then UBUNTU 14.10 installed. My printer HP Laserjet P1102w used to work perfectly before, without using internet. I bought it and installed it directly, I do not remember downloading anything or cd or giving any special order. It simply worked. I do have a "card" installed for WIFI as well as an internal anthenna but am not connected to a wireless account, but use wired connection.

Can anybody help me please? THANK YOU!
