HP C4280 Scanner problem

Asked by jlowder7884

My system is debian 2.6
The printer/scanner is connected via USB and the printer works fine.

sane-find-scanner displays the following result:
"found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0 [HP], product=0x5c11 [Photosmart C4200 series]) at libusb:001:004

The /etc/sane.d/hp4200.conf file had the following:
# HP4200
usb 0x03f0 0x0105

Scanimage couldn't find the scanner so I changed the hp4200.conf file to:
# HP4200
usb 0x03f0 0x5c11

scanimage -L found the scanner, but xsane still wouldn't find it and scanimage still wouldn't execute a scan.

Please run hp-check and post the output.

I've tested this on Ubuntu 7.10, and HPLIP 2.8.2 with a Photosmart C 4280 and scanning is working correctly, so there may be some sort of configuration problem on your system.

What version of hplip are you using? Possible to install the latest hplip from our website? (http://hplip.sf.net)

Thanks!

Aaron

Thanks for the quick response. I got it to work last night after I did a manual install of HPLIP. The printer and the scanner are both working perfectly now.

Thanks again.
