HP Color LaserJet CP2025n - prints 2-3 pages at a time (very slow)

Asked by Jordi Sayol

HP Color LaserJet CP2025n - firmware 20140702
Linux Mint Debian Edition - pack 8, 64-bit
cups - 1.6.4
hplip - 3.13.9

When printing 100 copies of a single page pdf, the printer prints 2-3 pages, pauses waiting for more data from the computer and them resume to print again 2-3 pages, pauses again, resume printing, and so on... This is very annoying.

On Windows 7, printing 100 copies of the same pdf file, printer start to print and don't pause until the end.

It seems that Linux creates a 100 (separated) pages job instead that print 100 times the same page.

How can I setup my CP2025n to have on Linux the same behavior I've on Windows 7?

Should I report this behavior as a bug?

Thank in advance!

Hi,

Thanks for reporting the issue in HPLIP. To help us understand and analyze the issue please follow below steps.
=> Download and install the latest HPLIP release from
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html (automatic installer) or
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/index.html (manual installation, if automatic installer does not work)

=> Copy "hp-color_laserjet_cp2025n-pcl3.ppd.gz" and "hp-color_laserjet_cp2025n-ps.ppd.gz" from "hplip-3.14.10" directory to some location and extract the same. "hplip-3.14.10" directory should be present in the same location where hplip-3.14.10.run was downloaded.

=> Reconfigure print queue using below commands.

       => hp-setup -r (remove all print queues)

=> Create two queues (one PCL ppd queue and one POSTSCRIPT ppd queue as mentioned below)

=> hp-setup (Provide hp-color_laserjet_cp2025n-pcl3.ppd when it asks for PPD )

=> hp-setup (Provide hp-color_laserjet_cp2025n-ps.ppd when it asks for PPD )

=>Try printing now using First with POSTSCRIPT queue and if that does not solve your problem then try another queue (PCL).
Please let me know is issue does not get resolved.

Thanks,
Sanjay

Thank you for your fast answer.

Test result:

"pcl3" ppd => same behavior (print 2-3 pages, pause, print 2-3 pages, pause....)

"ps" ppd => Fix the problem! all 100 pages are printed without pauses!

However, the first printed page takes longer with the "ps" compared with the "pcl3", but this is a trifle compared with the other problem.

Thank you so much for your help Sanjay!

Can I mark this problem as "solved"? or do you want to do more tests?

Best regards,
Jordi
