Time-setting compatibility

Asked by Hastlaug

Hello,

I'm wondering if setting the device's date and time by HPLIP is possible for all fully supported models?

I consider buying the M476dw - being able to set date and time centrally from a Linux box (via network) is essential to me.
Does anybody know if this is going to work?

Thanks!

Hello Hastlaug,

Setting date and time feature does not work for M476dw (currently there is a bug in HPLIP for this device). We can provide a patch to enable setting a date and time for M476dw device. Please note that setting date will behave as below.

=> Time and date can be set by running "hp-timedate" command in the terminal.
=> You need to add fax queue because setting date and time works only on fax queue.
=> There is no option to provide custom date and time in the argument while running "hp-timedate", instead this takes Linux system date and time and sets on the device.

Please let us know if that feature behavior caters to your needs. If so then I can provide you the patch which you can apply after installing latest HPLIP version from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html.

Thanks,
Sanjay
