Problem printing the bottom of page.

Asked by Giorgos Kostopoulos

Hi! :-)

My system is OpenSUSE 13.1 x64 KDE and I installed the latest hplip (official binaries from SF.NET).
My printer is a Deskjet 1.000.
Test pages (both from hplip and cups), looks good.

The problem is that I can't print the bottom of page (the page numbers actually).
Even choosing a smaller size than the default A4, doesn't solve the problem.
(In such a case, the output is smaller, but the page numbers, are still not printable).

hp-check -t output:

1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine
if the proper dependencies are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built
HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile- and
run-time dependencies).

Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies
d. [All are run-time checks]

Hello Giorgos,

Which application are you using for printing the document for which bottom is getting clipped? If it is Libreoffice then you need to adjust margins in Libreoffice PageSize settings (Format->Page->Page->Margins).

Thanks,
Sanjay

THANKS Sanjay! :-)

I'm afraid I was printing a PDF, so this was not the case.
I'm using Okular (I have KDE installed), but I tried Evince as well.

Anyway! The problem is now solved.
What was needed, is switching to On, the image fitting.
(Print Settings -> Image Printing -> Fit to Page -> On).

For some reason, this setting is enabled (On) by default in Windows, but in Linux is the other way around (Off).
Switching it to "On" did the trick and now everything's fine!
THANKS!!! :-)
G.
