Connecting my HP wireless printer to my wireless network

Asked by Margaret Mackintosh

Hi,

I have Ubuntu 14.04 system and I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium All-in-One Printer. It has wireless capability. But, I cannot connect to my wireless network. I went to HP's website and they had me go here.

When I try and use the Wireless Wizard that is installed into the printer to connect, it gives me a read out that reads:

ATTENTION: Your HP printer is unable to connect to your wireless router. MAC address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router which can prevent your HP printer from connecting to your wireless network during setup.

SOLUTION: 1 If MAC address filtering is enabled and you would like to keep it enabled, you must add the MAC address of your printer (available in this Test Report) to the list of permitted devices for your wireless router before continuing.

All PASSES but when it gets down to settings it says:
Printer Settings Consisten with Wireless Router Settings PASS
  No Filtering FAIL
  Channel Not Run
  Security PASS

There is a lot more in the results but this looks to be what the trouble is. I do have the printers Hardware Address (MAC) but I do not know how to add it to the system. Could someone help me with this? I am sure it is really simple, but it is beyond me at the moment.

Margaret

Just to let everyone know that this problem is now solved. I went to my Server and finally found where I could enter the printers name etc... Now I am able to print wireless again. Had nothing to do with my OS after all, but everything to do with the phone company. Thanks.
