Office Jet Pro Driver L7580?

Asked by handy

According to documentation, OfficeJet Pro L7580 should be supported since 1.7.6.
I have downloaded hplip-2.8.2-7.1.x86_64.rpm, but it does not contain a ppd file or any other hint to which driver to use instead.
Which driver can I use?

The OfficeJet Pro L7580 is supported by hplip.

What distro are you using? and where did you get the rpm?

We don't actually provide any rpm's or deb's at this time and we only support the source install of hplip.

If possible you could try removing the hplip rpm and installing from source from our website, http://hplip.sf.net

Although if you can get back to me with what distro and where you got the rpm I wouldn't mind taking a look at it.

Thanks.

Hi Aaron,

I have a openSUSE 10.2 which comes with hplip 1.6.2. hplip 1.6.2 does not
support HP L7580, so I got me a new hplip rpm from the openSUSE site at
http://software.opensuse.org/search
Select openSUSE 10.2 and enter "hplip" and search, then you get the mentioned
rpm.

Thanks

We don't provide support for the RPM's because we haven't tested them.

You could try removing the rpm and installing hplip from our source http://hplip.sf.net (the installer works for suse 10.2), or if Johannes is monitoring this he may have some other suggestions as he's our suse contact.

Hope this helps!

Aaron
