"/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups failed"

Asked by Arjo

My parents computer (Linux mint 13xfce with a hp psc 500 printer) has problems printing.
I have a "usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups failed" error.

I have used the diagnose tool and pasted the output in a pastebin:
http://pastebin.com/cWj9DE9U

I do not understand what is in there, but does is has something to do with hplip?
(because of this:

Can you help me?

Many thanks in advance.

I have read this other topic about the same error:
https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/148909

but I do not know if it is somewhat the same.
