network support for m401dne

Asked by jian Ruan

The supported printer page shows the network is NO for m401dne. However, the HP product page shows the m401dne has a 100/1000 LAN port.

Is there a plan to support network on m401dne in near future? I notice the network is support for m401dn. I assume difference between m401dne and m401dn is not significant.

Hi Jian Ruan,

We are looking into this issue.
Meanwhile, make following changes to support this

1) open "/usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat" in root mode
$ sudo gedit /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat

or

$ su -c 'gedit /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat'

--> search for "[hp_laserjet_400_m401dne]" , few line below (around 10) you will find io-support =2
--> Change "io-support=2" to "io-support=6"
--> save and exit
--> Try to setup the printer
$ hp-setup <Printer IP address>

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath

Confirmed! I receive the printer today, by doing the workaround described here the printer works with linux using the network interface.

Can you help with this problem?
