faint printing in part of page

Asked by Sam Mitchell

Dear HP help,

The first few pages print O.K., then the ink slowly fades in a vertical stripe about 3/4 of the way along the page. The ink cartridge is full. I have a P1102w. It only prints black.

I've tried various things. I use Ubuntu 12.04 on a 64 bit chip, I can't find how to tell the printer to clean ink heads, or reset.

Also, I can't get the wireless to connect. The wizard finds it, and then crashes when I tell it to connect up. I'm just using the old-fashioned cable, which works fine but it inconvenient for remote devices.

Many thanks for your help.

Sam

Thanks Sanjay,

this successfully installed the plugin. The problem persists, but...

I believe this is a hardware problem with the cartridge.

A work-around, which solves the problem temporarily, is to simply remove the cartridge and replace it before printing a long job. this automatically cleans the print heads.

I'll get a new cartridge. In the meantime, the device is usable.

Thank you again for your help,

Sam
