HPLIP

Do hplip supports to backtrack ?

i am new to using backtrack.i have hp laserjet 1020+ printer.
I want to know do hplip can be installed on backtrack. As i also failing to know the backtrack distro version, that i downloaded and now using for purpose. I go for 'man uname' command but screen does not displayed any info about version or make. Rather it shown only -* ie dash_character with description.
Also while downloading hplip , it shown window for selecting version , printer type ect. I have other info except version. Also in above list there is no backtrack listed.
As using printer with hplip support is useful for me. pls guide me on the matter.

We have never tested HPLIP in Backtrack distro. You can still try manual installation procedure as mentioned in the link
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/distros/other.html .
