Basic linux print driver for HP Photosmart 7520?

I've been working with linux for decades and have never had an application prompt me for my root password - that is beyond ludicrous and I'm simply not going to do that. Is there a way to print to my HP Photosmart 7520 from linux using a more traditional driver?

Hello Dave,

To avoid password prompts, your logged in user should be added to (lp, lpadmin) groups in case of Ubuntu, Debian, Mint etc. and (lp, sys) OpenSuse,Fedora etc. System logout or reboot is needed after adding user to (lp, sys/lpadmin) groups.
