Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to
successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

4) Problem:
After installing hplip, I can print and scan by connecting the printer via usb. However, when I tried to setup wifi by using hplip gui, it could not detect the printer although printer was connected via usb. The error is "Please check the USB connection to your printer and try again. (Device I/O error)"

I tried to connect the printer to my DLink router (WPS) by using PIN that is given by the printer. Still no success.

Well, my router SSID was invisible. When I made it visible, I was able to connect the router to the printer. Now I can scan/print by wifi. Sounds line problem is solved for now.

Hi Manoj,

Either you can install latest HPLIP from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install.html or change wifi-setting.

Option 1)
--> install latest HPLIP from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install.html
--> You may get warning auto installer is not supported for fedora-14, do you want continue. ignore this warning and press "yes" .

Option 2)
--> open /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat in root mode
$ su
$ gedit /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat
--> search for "deskjet_3050_j610_series"
--> you may find [deskjet_3050_j610_series], few lines below (around 70), you will find "wifi-config=1" change this to "wifi-config=3"
--> close and exit form root user
$ exit

-->try wifi-setup
$ hp-wificonfig -g
   --> provides IP address of printer.
--> run hp-setup using above IP address
$ hp-setup <IP Address>

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath
