HP LaserJet Pro 300 M375NW MFC - What works without the proprietary plugin?

For Laserjet Pro 300 M375 MFP printer, proprietary plugin is required to support scan. However for print and fax functionality, it is not needed.

You can install the driver and plugin after downloading hplip from www.hplip.net .

Thanks, I guess I won't be buying it then.. Can get print-only devices much cheaper (and frankly, fax is obsolete).

Any idea if there are any multifunction laser printers available any more that don't require non-free software? Or has HP abandoned free software?

Here is the list of all HP printers. Please see the last column "Driver Plugin". All the printers with "Driver plugin = No" use opensource software only.

Thanks. After some time searching the page, I concluded that HP does not have a single laser colour print+scan device with free software support. Guess I will need to find a freedom-friendly vendor elsewhere :(
