HP Laserjet P1606dn on Network prints first page as blank
hello,
I use Ubuntu 13.04 and Installed a Network printer (HP Laserjet P1606dn) via Add Printer function in Ubuntu. I manually entered the IP Adress to get the printer and automatically installed the HP printer driver.
Printing works but anyhow the first page of the document was always printed as blank.
Afterwards I installed all the HP supply manually with hplip-3.13.10.run and added the printer through hplips interface. But: same issue again unfortunatly. How can i solve this?

ok. I think the relevant part of the Output considering printer in Room 3033 might be this:
"ZEF_LaserJet_
-------
Type: Printer
Device URI: hp:/net/
PPD: /etc/cups/
PPD Description: HP LaserJet Professional p1606dn, hpcups 3.13.3, requires proprietary plugin
Printer status: printer ZEF_LaserJet_
Required plug-in status: Installed
error: Unable to communicate with device (code=12): hp:/net/
error: unable to open channel
error: Communication status: Failed"
-------
Please note, that I can still print on this printer. But the first page is blank.
With the other printer in room 1027 I don't have the blank page problem but sometimes the job is incomplete too (e.g. last five pages missing). But still the Output doesn't indicate an error on this one:
ZEF_Laserjet_
-------
Type: Printer
Device URI: hp:/net/
PPD: /etc/cups/
PPD Description: HP Color LaserJet CP3525 Postscript (recommended)
Printer status: printer ZEF_Laserjet_
Communication status: Good
-------
the total Output looks like this:

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies are
installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper
dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).
Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies
d. [All are run-time checks]

I have the exact same issue with a HP 1606dn. So no, the problem was not caused by you. What are the steps for reinstalling the firmware?

Thanks, no problem. I was hoping someone from HP could answer. I looked at the instructions for upgrading the firmware, but they only work for Windows and Mac. Is there a Linux-way to do it?

Unfortunatly our IT uses Windows so I suppose you are going to rely on somebody who uses windows to update the firmware.
