Print job skipped after first page

Asked by merlin

I think after HPLIP-upgrade to 3.13.7, following issues introduced:

- Print jobs are skipped after the first page, i.e. the first page is printed but none of the following pages.

HPLIP- 3.13.9-Output, 1. cups restart, 2. one page print job, 3. multiple pages print job, with only one page being printed.

hp-check does not diagnose any errors except missing optional dependencies. Plugin status and version are correct.

Additionally, the printing quality is very poor by now. It looks like very low DPI settings, while the settings say it's 300/600DPI. btw I did also try to remove the cups device and set it up again.

Can you imagine what's wrong here? What output may help you?

Hi Merlin,

Can you provide us "hp-check" command output and capture the log file through " hp-logcapture" command. You can create a separate bug for this issue following the link https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+filebug and attach the log files for analysis.

Thanks,
Goutan

I have the same problem. I just updated to Ubuntu 13.10 today, which also upgraded hplip to a newer version. Suddently of every print job, I only get the first page, and it is extremely lousy quality (looks like maybe 200dpi). After upgrading to the newest version of hplip (3.14.3) and re-configuring the printer, the problem persists. My printer is an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600

More specifically, when I sent a duplex print job, the printer prints out the front of the first page. Then the page sits in the spot where it usually waits for the "ink to dry" for a few seconds. After this, the page is simply ejected and the print job is finished. The back of the first page is never printed, nor are any subsequent pages.

I generated the information with hp-check and hp-logcapture, and will open a separate bug so that I can attach the files.

By the way, you should update your instructions for hp-logcapture. The generated file contains quite a bit of personal information (in my case, I was printing a tax return, and hp-logcapture included an image of the entire first page of the tax return in the generated "log" - I am very glad I checked this before I posted it, because I would not want it posted in public. You should warn people not to print anything personal while generating these logs).
