Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies
d. [All are run-time checks]

Hi,

As xsane is crashing, seems like some file might be corrupted. Can you please try following steps before hand

1) go to hplip-3.13.8 source directory
$ cd ~/Downloads/hplip-3.13.8

2) Install again hplip
$ ./configure --prefix=/usr --libdir=/usr/lib64
$ make clean
$ make
$ su -c 'make install'
$ su -c 'hp-plugin'

If still problem exists, please provide us following data
1) clear /var/log/syslog file (if exists)
    $ su -c "cp /dev/null /var/log/syslog"

2) clear /var/log/messages file (if exists)
    $ su -c "cp /dev/null /var/log/messages"

3) run hp-scan command output in debug mode
  $ hp-scan -g

4) provide us /var/log/syslog file content(if exists)
5) provide us /var/log/messages file content(if exists)

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath
