which driver/ppd for OfficeJet K7100?

I've tried HPLIP 2.7.12 with an OfficeJet K7100. The USB device is found, but I can't seem to find a suitable driver/ppd file. The HPLIP documentation states that this printer was supported since 2.7.9.

I've tried this on Fedora Core 5 and Fedora 7. I've successfully built and installed RPMs, tried the automatic installation script (which never finished running - the animated spinner keeps on going), and compiled/installed from source. I've also tried to install the printer via system-config-print as well as hp-setup.

I used this to build the RPMs:
ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/development/source/SRPMS/hplip-2.7.12-4.fc9.src.rpm

The ppd file you want to use is the HP-Officejet_K7100-hpijs.ppd.

Run
updatedb
and then
locate K7100 | grep ppd

And post the output?

Also please run hp-check and post that output as well.

Hi Aaron,

Thank you for looking into this. Please remember, I was not able to run the automatic installer (the .run script) because it never returned after typing in the root password - the spinner kept going. Via make install and the rpm, there was no ppd file for the K7100 (in the directory that had the other HP ppd files).

(I think hp-check isn't properly detecting my installation of python-reportlab)

Hi Aaron,

I got it work by finishing the installation manually:

/bin/cp -a /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/hplip-2.7.12/ppd/HP-Officejet_K7100-hpijs.ppd /usr/share/foomatic/db/source/PPD/HP/
hp-setup
<pick HP-Officejet_K7100-hpijs.ppd>

I printed out an A3 image and it seems to work fine.

The machine is an FC5 machine.

Okay, glad you got it working. We haven't done any testing on FC5 in awhile--I'll have a look and see if there might be an install problem.
