hp laserjet cp1025nw color not printing any more

Asked by Mauricio Calvao

I used to have my HP LasserJet CP1025nw color to print seamlessly under Debian unstable (in fact, sidcution) distro. I have possibly made an upgrade which must have messed things up. Now I any job I send to the printer gets nothing done at all. If I check things through CUPS, the State is stopped and "Filter failed". If I try to print a test page the required plugin window shows up asking for the installation of the plugin. I accept it up to the point where my root password is asked; I provide it but it says "Failed to install plugin Either you have chosen to skip the plugin installation or entered incorrect password"

The present hplip package I have is the current 3.13.8-1; can I somehow downgrade it, since it used to work before and I am assuming this is the cause for the error??

Thanks

Hi,

Looks like HPLIP is not installed properly after upgrade. Please follow below steps.
=> Download and install the latest HPLIP release from
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html (automatic installer) or
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/index.html (manual installation, if automatic installer does not work)

=> Reconfigure print queue using below commands.
       => system-config-printer (remove all print queues)
      => su -c "hp-plugin"
             or
      => sudo hp-plugin (This will download right plugin)
       => hp-setup (It should not be run in a root mode. This command is adding print queue, make sure you select ppd name having "-ps" or "hpcups" substring)
=>Try printing now.

If problem does not get solved then please run following command to capture the logs and send the logs.

$su -c "hp-logcapture"

**Please use "Create a bug report" to attach the logs as "Ask a Question" does not provide the file attachment option

It did work, apparently with some quirks during reinstallation, but it does seem to be working correctly. I was able to print a test page and then a colored page from a pdf document. Thanks a lot!
