update error - permission denied

Asked by Hal Joseph

Trying to update to HPLIP-3.13.5 as instructed by splash screen. I click "OK" on "download and install", and it takes me to terminal. I type "y" to continue upgrade, then "y" again to close running HP applications. It then quits after downloading with the following error message: "/tmp//hplip-3.13.5.run: 1: eval: ./hplip-install: Permission denied
Upgrade Failed or Skipped."

Hi Hal,

Which Linux distro and what is the version?

Please refer this link @ http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1901876

If /tmp" mounted to tmpfs(RAM), either /tmp mount directory or copy /tmp/hplip-3.13.5.run to other directory and run following commands

$ mv /tmp/hplip-3.13.5.run ~/Downloads
$ cd ~/Downloads
$ sh hplip-3.13.5.run

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath
