why such a strange install process?

Asked by John Pye

Hi there

I'm pleased the HP supports printing from Linux. But why does HP have to implement such a crazy distribution/update system? Ubuntu already has a perfectly good system that works for every other piece of software on my machine... so why can't HP just use the standard thing?

Cheers
JP

Hello JP,

HPLIP is also available in Ubuntu software center. But all new product supports and bug fixes wont be available in Ubuntu software center. In order to get the latest driver we recommend users to install HPLIP from our website. Hope this answers your question.
