HP 1660 printer will not print

Asked by Rex Bouwense

I downloaded and installed the new version of HPLIP (3.13.3). Don't know why except it was there and Ubuntu (actually Lubuntu) 12.10 was supported. Now I cannot print. I ran hp-check -t and a warning came up:
Deskjet_D1600
-------------
Type: Printer
Device URI: hp:/usb/Deskjet_D1600_series?serial=CN06DC95VV05CT
PPD: /etc/cups/ppd/Deskjet_D1600.ppd
PPD Description: HP Deskjet d1600 Series, hpcups 3.13.3
Printer status: WARNING: gnome-keyring:: couldn't connect to: /run/user/rex/keyrprinter ready to printis idle. enabled since Fri 05 Apr 2013 06:59:03 PM MST
WARNING: gnome-keyring:: couldn't connect to: /run/user/rex/keyring-eXeHxF/pkcs11: No such file or directory
Communication status: Good

It worked brfore. By installing the new version have I deleted a file/directory that is required to print?

I feel very foolish. When I rebooted this morning, the printer now works. The warning is still there but it is printing now. Sorry for wasting your time.
