mac os x sane backend

Asked by gorstj

Any chance of the sane backends being ported to Mac Os X.

There are a lot of all in one printers which do not have HP support for scanning in the latest version of Mac OS X, but printing works through third party drivers.

The HPLIP team doesn't provide support for sane. HPLIP only utilizes the sane project for enhanced functionality.

Please see: http://www.sane-project.org/ for sane support.

Doen't the HPLIP software have specific HP backends for SANE that are not supplied in the standard SANE distribution?

Yes we do provide a backend that connects with sane in a way. However we have no plans on porting this process to MacOS, although I can't promise this will change in the future or not.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
